Mark Ketner Obituary

Mark William Ketner, 1955-2024, passed away at IU West Hospital on 3/28/24 with his family. Mark was born to William “Billy Joe” and Loretta Ketner on April 9, 1955. The oldest of four, he demonstrated the value of family. He loved his relatives, children, and granddaughter. He would often laugh and say he was living to the age of 100 to haunt us; We only wish we had more time with him.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, William and Loretta Ketner, as well as his granddaughter, Kendall Claire. He is survived by his siblings, Brian, Keith, and Craig. He also is survived by his children, Melissa, Matt, Paul, Ethan, Hannah, and grandchild Charlotte.

Mark was a member of IBEW Local 725 and worked in the family business of Ketner and Sons Electric as an electrician. He moved to Harrison Crossing Assisted Living and later resided at Countryside Meadows in Avon, Indiana. He was well known to be the life of fun and activities, but also to volunteer to help other residents and to lend a helping hand. He would never miss an outing or afternoon of bingo with his friends.

Mark lived a life affected by bipolar disorder and later by dementia. He was a true example of how support and love allows those affected to thrive. He was open and receptive to support from others and this was part of his success in living a happy and independent life, despite his limitations.

Mark loved the Green Bay Packers, sports, shopping, bingo, visitors, and being outdoors. Mark was a volunteer by heart and cared for those around him.

A celebration of life will happen on Sunday, 4/21/24 from 1-4p at Stables in Terre Haute.
