Albert Richard (Dick) Monninger Jr.

Albert Richard “Dick” Monninger Jr, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on January 25, 2018 after his battle with Cancer. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 31, 2018 from 11 am to service time in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th street, Terre Haute, 47804. Services for Albert will be at 1 pm in the funeral home.  Chaplain Rick May from Hospice of Wabash Valley will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Highland Lawn Cemetery. Richard was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 21, 1937. He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School.  While in high school he joined the Indiana National Guard.  After high school he served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and 4 years in the U.S. Navy.  Following his time in service he began working at Terre Haute First Bank and went to school to obtain a Bachelor degree and a Master degree from Indiana State University.. Richard retired from Terre Haute First Bank. He enjoyed watching sports, reading, gardening and spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his wife Mary Jane Monninger; brothers Ron Monninger, Bob Monninger, George Monninger, Jim Sullivan and John Sullivan; daughter Gretchen Monninger; Step-daughter and sons Melissa Sims, Kenny Sims, Steve Downing and many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Richard is preceded in death by his parents Albert Monninger Sr and Hazel Anderson Monninger Sullivan Reed; his sister Joan Monninger Tucker; and brother Gary Sullivan.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Hospice of Wabash Valley. The Monninger family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Wabash Valley for their caring support they provided.
