Alice L Stapleton

Alice L. Stapleton, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday December 19, 2019 in Union Hospital. Alice was born on February 18, 1929 in Terre Haute to Scott Reed and Esther Oliphant Reed. Alice was retired from the Harrison Township Assessor’s Office. She and her husband were very involved in the Happiness Bag in Terre Haute, she along with her children enjoyed presenting Christmas Gifts to children for many years. She and her husband founded the Egg Hunt at Collett Park and were involved with Beacon of the Wabash Valley. She loved flowers and working in her yard. She loved music, dancing and spending time with her husband and family at their home on Raccoon Lake. She loved her cats, Oreo, Lucky and Precious.  She loved to cook, and most importantly she loved taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edgar “Ed” Stapleton who passed away April 23, 2011. She is survived by two sons; Gary Stapleton (Jim Lansbery) of Indianapolis, and Scott Stapleton (Valerie) of Terre Haute. She is survived by three daughters; Deanna Sorlie of Terre Haute, Marilyn “Susie” Reid of Indianapolis and Brenda Stapleton – Lummis (Scott) also of Indianapolis. She is survived by her special friend and adopted daughter, Debbie Cagle of Terre Haute.  She is survived by one brother, Kenneth Reed (Mary Lou) of Aurora, MO. She is survived by seven Grandchildren, fourteen Great Grandchildren and three great great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Services are Monday December 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005, North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN. 47804. Visitation is Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that contributions may be made to Happiness Bag Inc of Terre Haute, envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
