Barbara Jean (Harkness) Milner

May 8, 1932 ~ November 28, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Barbara Milner, 85, passed away at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on November 28, 2017.  She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on May 8, 1932, to Robert Harkness, MD and Clela Hull Harkness, MD. Barbara was a teacher at Warren Elementary School for 32 years and a lifelong member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association.  She was devoted to the many children that she taught during her teaching career.Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Bill Milner, on March 8, 1952, celebrating 65 years  together.  Surviving are Bill, and their 4 children,  William (Rosie) Milner, Vicki (Dale) Burkitt, Robert (Patty) Milner, all of Terre Haute, and Jane Fallon, of Kokomo, Indiana. Barbara is survived by her sister, Roberta Markle, of Mansfield, Ohio, and a brother-in-law, Roger Leiser, of Decatur, Illinois, sisters-in-law, Anna Fagg, of Brazil, Virginia Beck, Kathryn King, of Terre Haute, Carolyn (Don) Lanning, of Hilton Head SC,  Phyllis Milner, of Rockville, 8 grandchildren, Carrie (Greg) Chiado,  William (Lisa) Milner, Jarrod Milner, Stacey (Shad) Vanatti, Robert Milner, Becky Milner, Amanda Fallon, Christopher Fallon, 9 great-grandchildren, Kayla Burkitt, Eli Burkitt, Jillian Chiado, Cole Chiado,  Brayden Milner, Cassidy Milner, Olivia Milner, Parker Milner, Jordan Milner, and several nieces and nephews.   Barbara’s greatest joy was having her family around her.She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ann Leiser, in-laws, Harry and Lydia Milner, son-in-law, Keith Fallon, brothers-in-law, Paul Markle, Jim Beck, Tom King, John Moy, Jim Milner, Walter Milner, Don Fagg, sisters-in-law, Doris Moy, Cora Barnhart, niece, Ginny King, and nephew Rob Leiser. Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Glenn High School.  Barbara obtained her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees in Elementary Education and Home  Economics from Indiana State Teacher’s College.Honoring Barbara’s wishes, she will be cremated.  There will be no services.  Family will gather for a celebration of Barbara’s life on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2pm-4pm at the home she shared with her husband.  Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana.  Online condolences may be made at www.greinerfuneralhome.com.
