Donald Earl Simmons, 83, of Terre Haute passed away June 6, 2109 in his home surrounded by family. He was born September 12, 1935 in Terre Haute to Theodore Simmons and Mildred Marie Allen Simmons. Don was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a medic with the 58th Evac Unit in Germany. Don was one of the oldest elders of Christ Temple Church now The Sanctuary- Apostolics of Terre Haute; his father founded the church. Evangelism was his life. He loved to teach bible studies, lead worship services, and lead in singing. In the past, he also pastored a couple churches. He spent several years travelling and spreading the Gospel. He was a son of thunder, a fiery and passionate preacher. He made so many friends over the years in every state. He loved his wife with every fiber of his being. He currently is the oldest of all his siblings. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life Mildred “Mickey” Simmons, his brothers; Theodore Jr., and Wayne, and sisters; Betty, Rosemary, Martha and Shirlene.
He is survived by his daughters; Corina L. Weaver (Robert), Judith E. Bedford (Norm), a son, Lee Jarvis (Misty), a brother Paul Simmons (Carolyn), sisters; Helen, Susan, and Carol, Shirlene, and Carol; grandchildren; Crystal, Kelly, Logan, Jennifer, Dexter Jr., Nikki, and Robert, great grandchildren; Nicholas, Landon, Caydance, Cole, Owen, Ethan, Cillian, Gavin, Olivia, and one on the way. Also surviving are dear friends, Tammy and Eddie, and his girl Marjorie.
Services for Don will be Tuesday June 11, 2019 at 1 pm in The Sanctuary – Apostolics of Terre Haute – Christ Temple Church, 2311 Locust Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47807. Visitation is scheduled from 11 am until service time at the church. Pastor Merrill Weir will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasantview Cemetery.
