Dr. Keith J Herner

Dr. Keith J. Herner, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 3rd in his residence. He was born January 6, 1950 in Monroe, LA, the third son of Olin M. Herner and Virginia Larr Herner. 

Survivors include his former wife, Sherrie. Three children; Christopher Herner, West Hollywood, CA, Cory Herner, Carmel, IN, and Kelly Scolnik and husband Douglas, Orlando, FL.  Three grandchildren; Griffin Herner, West Lafayette, IN, and Asher and Maisie Scolnik, and a step-granddaughter, Ella Scolnik, Orlando, FL. One brother, David Herner and his wife, Jodie. Two sisters-in-law; Melodie All and her husband Robert, and Kelly Fisher and her husband William, Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by several nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Stephen Herner and Robert Herner, and his in-laws, Joe and Bonnie Marcinko. 

Keith enjoyed playing sports, especially football and softball. He was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and Indiana University. He was a respected Optometrist, practicing for forty years. His memberships included the Indiana Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.  He enjoyed planning road trips for his family so much that he was often lovingly compared to “Clark Griswold.” He especially enjoyed traveling to many destinations in the western United States. His meticulous preparation rendered many enjoyable trips to numerous National Parks, and beyond to the California Pacific. He also loved Florida, taking his family on vacations to the beach and Disney World every summer as his children grew.

Cremation was chosen with a celebration of Keith's life scheduled at a later date.   Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804, was entrusted with arrangements.  Online condolences can be made at www.greinerfuneralhome.com
