Helen Margaret Mancuso

On Friday, January 11, 2019, Helen Mancuso was allowed to slow dance once again with her husband, Lt. Col Thomas Mancuso. Helen was born in Terre Haute on June 6, 1924 to James McCormick and Margaret Foley McCormick. Searching for employment, she moved to Chicago and fell passionately in love. Tom and Helen were happily married on September 27, 1947 and remained so for 65 years. They raised three sons, Tony, TJ and Tim and a daughter Carol. Helen worked as a secretary and later as a waitress. But her greatest passion was Italian cooking and chiding Tom for burning the garlic bread. She also enjoyed all arts and crafts with the grandkids. Glue, glitter and a mess were her specialties. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her son Tim and a grandson, Tony Mancuso Jr. Her legacy includes eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and the many friends there were welcomed to stay in her home and her heart. Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, 2405 South 7th Street, Terre Haute, IN. 47802 on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Father Dan Bedel and Father Ron Ashmore will be officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that you share a special memory of Helen and place it in a memory box that will be located at the church.
