Jennifer Lynn Cole

August 5, 1972 ~ June 29, 2019 (age 46)

Jennifer Lynn Cole, age 46, passed away June 29th after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family.

Jennifer was born in Terre Haute, IN to Robert & Susan (Shelby) Rusin. She had one younger brother Brad Rusin who she loved the pick on, torment, and laugh with their entire lives. Brad preceded her in death in 2010.

Jennifer went to Terre Haute North High School and Indiana State University where she graduated with an Elementary Education Degree.

Jennifer was a loving and dedicated elementary school teacher for Vigo County School Corporation. She worked at Adelaide DeVaney Elementary School her entire professional career. She so loved her DeVaney family and the entire Vigo County School Corp community.

She was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. She enjoyed traveling, country music concerts, reading, socializing with friends, and spending time with family. She so loved her dog Toby and had such a love and affection for all dogs.

Jennifer was a beloved daughter, aunt, wife, and friend. She was preceded in death by her brother Brad, her grandparents, Gordon and Ruth Shelby and Michael and Rinaldis Rusin. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Susan Rusin, Husband Jim Cole, Sister-In-Lawson Heather Lawson (Rod) and her nieces and nephews, Paige, Taylor, Alexis, Seth, Tyler, Taylor & Tara who she loved as her own children.

Visitation and Service will be held at Greiner Funeral Home. Visitation times will be Monday July 8th, 4 pm to 7 pm and Tuesday July 9th, 10 am to 11 am. Services will be Tuesday July 9th at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow the service at DeVaney Elementary School (1011 South Brown Avenue).

In lieu of flowers, Jennifer asked for donations to be made to the Vigo County School Corporation’s “Backpack Program” or the Humane Society.

A special “Thank you” to the amazing team at IU Simon Cancer Center and the wonderful folks at Kindred Hospice.
