JoAnne Swank Rowe, 84, of Terre Haute passed away January 31, 2018 in Westminster Village at 12:53 am. She was born February 24, 1933 in Nevada, Ohio to Lester Robert Swank and Margaret Leopold Swank. JoAnne worked as an instructor at Indiana State University, teaching home management in the Home economics department. JoAnne was an accomplished student; she graduated with a B.A. in Home Economics, Speech, and Theatre from Hiram College, and a Masters degree from Indiana State in Home Economics. JoAnne worked as a Home Extension Agent, before working for Indiana State. She received scholarships in High School for her piano and singing abilities. She also was an accomplished seamstress, tailor, needleworker, and cross stitcher. She was both a long time member and past president of the Terre Haute Newcomers Club, Faculty Wives of ISU, and Psi Iota Xi sorority, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and P.E.O.
Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Richard Rowe, whom she married in 1954, and her children: Cynthia Wagoner and her husband Mark, David Otis Rowe and his wife Sharon, and Kathleen Gemberling and her husband Gary; grandchildren Bobby Rowe and his wife Amanda, Paige Claassen and her husband Lander, Ty Wagoner, Kyle Gemberling, and Hanna Gemberling, and 3 great grandchildren, Keegan, Keeley, and Hugh.
The family has chosen cremation with private services. Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804 was entrusted with arrangements.
