John Robert (Jr.) Chaney

John Robert Chaney, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully at The Park Tower Palliative Care Unit in the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on April 7, 2018. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on January 16, 1943 to the late John R. and Stella Radzun Chaney. John graduated from Sacred Heart School and the former Terre Haute Garfield High School with the class of 1961. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay College in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he found and married the love of his life, Judy Roberts Chaney. John thrived in the commercial insurance business, where he owned and operated Frontier Adjusters of Indiana and Kentucky, retiring in 2012. He was a member of Ascension Parish in Louisville, where he served as President of the Men’s Club. He was avid golfer, who loved family, life and good joke. John will be missed and is survived by his daughter, Rachel Carmona and husband Diego; his son, John Robert Chaney III and their mother, Judy Chaney, all of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister and brother in-law, Debbie and Dave Reeves of Terre Haute, IN; a brother and sister in-law Pat and Wendy Chaney of Old Mill Creek, IL; an uncle, Carl Richard Chaney of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren Ellie and Jacob Carmona, and Lucas and George Reichle. He is also survived by nieces, Stevanne Steadman, Lisa Parmeter, Isabella Doetsch, Denise Joiner and nephews Douglas Steadman, William Chaney and Robert Doetsch; sister in-law, Linda Nichols, Doris Wilbur and Carolyn Wentz, several cousins, as well as great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Michael. He was a current resident of The Forum at Brookside in Louisville, KY. The family would like to thank The Palliative Care unit in Louisville for their support and wonderful care. Private family graveside services for John will be Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Calvary Cemetery.
