Kenneth W. Scheid, 88, of Zionsville and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away September 18, 2018 in his residence. He was born February 5, 1930 in Terre Haute to John Scheid and Henrietta Kupferer Scheid. He was a retired carpenter, retiring from Guarantee Roofing after 42 years of service. He was life time member of Christ Lutheran Church helping to build the church as well as the Bell Tower. He was devoted to the church serving in many capacities throughout the years. He was a veteran of the US Army stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He liked to fish, camp and especially enjoyed helping others. He loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Roy, Ray and Paul Scheid. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bain Scheid, whom he married June 4, 1960. He is survived by one son, Keith Scheid and his wife Kim of Indianapolis, three daughters; Kimba Ridgway and her husband Darin of Athens, OH., Kristy Nies and her husband Tom of Lebanon, IN., and Karol Tierney and her husband Jim of Carmel, IN. He is survived by one brother, Richard Scheid and his wife Ruth of Terre Haute. He is survived by eight grandchildren; Samantha Ridgway, Morgan Clarkson and her husband Taylor, Taylor Scheid, Zach Nies, Dylan Scheid, Mitchell Tierney, Nick Nies and Megan Tierney. He is also survived by several Nieces and Nephews. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday September 21, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2331 Poplar Street, Terre Haute, IN., 47803. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Rev. Donna Glazier will be officiating. Greiner Funeral Home was entrusted with services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Christ Lutheran Church or The Alzheimer’s Association, envelopes will be available at the church.
