Larry “Butch/Tom” Thomas Elmore, 55, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away on December 25th, 2018. He was born to parents Larry Ray Elmore and Janet Sue Elmore on September 23rd, 1963 in Terre Haute, IN.
He graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo High School in 1981 studying auto mechanics. He was ASE Certified at age 18. Larry went on to work for George & Son Auto from age 18 until he purchased the business in 1993. His passion was working on vehicles and he was a great auto mechanic. Larry was part of the Civil Air Patrol Search and Rescue. He was honored with a Billy Mitchell Award on May 31st, 1981. He enjoyed supporting the Air Force and the US Military. His favorite pastime was hunting and fishing, watching and attending NASCAR events, going to concerts, being outdoors, and spending time at the family’s sesquicentennial farmhouse in Clarksville, IL. He loved visiting with his grandsons, Jude and Silas, and teaching them about cars. Larry had two children with his ex-wife, Bonnie Galloway; BrandyGail Mattox and Brandon Elmore. Brandon passed away in the then family home in a house fire on Christmas in 1992. Larry’s life wishes were to be laid to rest with his son at Roselawn in the same vault inside the mausoleum. Larry is immediately survived by Janet Sue Elmore, mother, BrandyGail Mattox, daughter, Jude Mattox, grandson, Silas Mattox, grandson, Betsy Bean, sister, Steven Elmore, brother, Kevin Elmore, brother, Aaron Bean, nephew, Brooke Elmore, niece, Mackenzie Elmore, niece, Shaylee Bean, great niece, Sylus Elmore, great nephew, Nancy Owens, aunt, Dwayne Owens, uncle, Cathleen Owens, cousin, and many many more relatives and in-laws. The family has entrusted Greiner’s Funeral Home with his cremation. A celebration of life is scheduled for January 13th, 2019 1:00pm-5:00pm at Sandcut Firehouse 5970 E. Rio Grande Ave Terre Haute, IN. Larry will be laid to rest with his son Brandon at Roselawn in the mausoleum.
