Lois Hollingsworth Obituary

Lois L. Hollingsworth

Terre Haute Indiana - Lois Hollingsworth, a lifetime resident of Terre Haute, passed in peace Saturday the 16th of February at Hospice of the Wabash Valley. She was born in Clinton, to Ben and Esther Wallace Hollingsworth on July 28, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean Fellows and Ida Jenkins; and two brothers-in-law, Kenny Turchi and Eddie Bennett.  She is survived by Amy Hollingsworth; two brothers, Jim Hollingsworth (Leotta) of Washington and Bennie (Georgetta) of Clinton; three sisters, Bonnie Turchi and Helen Bennett of Universal and Linda (Max) Anderson of Spencer.   Also surviving are Mary Jo Powell, Sierra Eaton, Devante McCoy, Deverra McCoy, Devante McCoy Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Molly; her cat, Di Di; and many, many special friends.

Lois was a pioneer in women’s fastpitch softball and played Center Field for the Burger Chefettes.  Because of her outstanding skills, she was inducted into  the Indiana Softball Hall of Fame. She was also a true athlete in many sports, including bowling and golf.

Throughout her life, Lois loved people and animals.  She loved to help her friends and was an accomplished carpenter, painter, and all-around handy woman. She loved to socialize and enjoyed going to ball games and playing cards. Her wonderful smile and gentle touch could brighten the lives of everybody -- whether two-legged or four-legged.

Lois believed,“No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind."  She absolutely fulfilled that legacy.  Indeed, during her lifetime she touched so many lives in so many ways that she will be remembered by everyone who knew her with love and admiration.

She will be deeply missed.
