Marie Ruth Ferree Johnson, 85, died Tuesday February 28, 2018 in Brownsburg, IN from complications related to Alzheimer’s. Marie was born November 7, 1932 in Terre Haute, IN to Hazel Tatlock Ferree and Warren Webb Ferree. Marie is survived by her children; Christie Brown, her husband Mike, Abbie Hilton, David Johnson, his wife Maribel; grandchildren Jason Brown, his wife Beth, Jennifer Hilton, Tyler Hilton, his wife Elspeth, Brandy Silva, and Amelia Johnson; and great grandchildren Shawn and Dominic Brown. Marie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Ferree and Warren Ferree. Marie was a 1949 graduate of Garfield High School in Terre Haute, a graduate of Butler University with degrees in Education and Library Science and a Masters degree in Library Science from Ball State University. Marie work as an English teacher and Librarian at Carmel High School; Librarian at Avon Public Library; Assistant to the Mayor of Noblesville, IN, and in retirement worked at Jacobson’s Department Store. She may be best remembered for her love of genealogy and her time spent researching her family tree. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and also enjoyed participation in Toastmasters International. Services will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park Chapel of Memories at 7500 N Clinton St, Terre Haute, IN at 1:00 PM on March 3, 2018 with burial to follow. Rev Steve Moore will officiate.
