Rachael McKay Obituary

Rachael Sue McKay, 85, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away March 1, 2019, from complications after a courageous struggle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia Disease, at Cobblestone Crossing, surrounded by her family.  She was born August 7, 1933, in Cumberland County, Illinois, to Fred and Vera (Ozier) Tutewiler, their only child. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1950.  She also attended Eastern Illinois University.  Rachael was employed at The Ordinance, Eastern Express Trucking Company, Arab Termite and Pest Control, and Donnelly’s.  She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, later becoming a Charter Member of Northside Community United Methodist Church, the last several years, she had been attending church at The Life Center.  Prior to her declining health, Rachael for many years was very active in her church.  She enjoyed league bowling at Vigo Bowl, Bunco Club with her girlfriends, and was a longtime member of A.B.W.A.  She loved to travel and volunteered at The Swope.    Rachael is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Rick Conley; sweetheart Bernie Heck; special friend Carolee Smith; son-in-law Bill Chance; step grandchildren Rich Conley, Bob Conley. Amy Lee (Tom); great grandchildren Payton, Madison, Macklyn, Maelyn, Kendyl, and Dylyn.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to the excellent caregivers at Cobblestone Crossing and the staff at the former McMillen Adult Daycare.  Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 4:00p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 2:00p.m. until service time.  Pastor Tim Minks will officiate. Private family burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Life Center Church or Northside Community United Methodist Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.greinerfuneralhome.com .
