Vicki Louise Peterson

Vicki Louise Peterson passed away February 12, 2019.  After 30 years of struggling and suffering through her many illnesses, she slipped peacefully and quietly into immortality. Her laugh, her sense of humor, and her silent strength was felt by many both near and far.  She was quick to listen and never missed an opportunity to pay a compliment. 

Vicki was born November 30, 1957 to Harry Gordon Shaw and Helen Louise McQueen in Indianapolis, Indiana and later raised by her step-father Jessup Lee Manley.  She grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana with her two older sisters and three younger brothers and two step brothers. Whether she was winning talent shows impersonating Lily Tomlin’s iconic characters Edith Ann or Ernestine the telephone operator, running away from home with a small sack tied to a stick, or singing songs and swinging with Kathy and the Cool Cats she was always where the fun was. 

Vicki attended Brigham Young University where she met her loving husband Darren Peterson on a blind date.  On November 22, 1982 they were wed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple in Jordan River, Utah.  Among her many other talents, Vicki was an amazing mother.  She was blessed with three children who loved and absolutely adored her. Despite her illness she was always active and present in their lives and filled their childhoods full of love, sliding down stairs on sofa cushions, baking experiments and lots and lots of laughter. One of her greatest joys was her eight grandchildren (and one on the way).  Her grandkids loved to spend time with her and talk with her on the phone.  There are not many things she enjoyed more than holding a grandbaby.

She is survived by her devoted husband Darren Peterson; her three loving children and their spouses Chari (Chase) Sherrill, Darren (Chelsea ) Peterson and Carl (Nicole) Peterson; her eight grandchildren Wyatt, Norah, Walker, Colby, Aurora June, McCall, Adam and Savanna, and her brother and sisters Jacquie Fink, Kathy Gregg, Harry Shaw Jr. and Mark Manley.  Vicki was preceded in death by her father Harry, her mother Helen, her step-father Jessup, her step-brothers Donald Manley and Danny Manley, and her brother Larry Manley.

 Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 2:00p.m., in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1845 North 6 1/2 Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47802.  Bishop Parker will officiate.  Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, from 12:30p.m. until service time.  Cremation will be scheduled after services.  Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home.
