William E. Phillips, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away on August 14, 2019. William was born December 3, 1931 in Terre Haute to James Phillips and Mildred Toute Phillips. He was retired from Wabash Fiber Box. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign War #972 and American Legion Post#104. He enjoyed mowing his yard and had great interest in the history of cemeteries. He will be remembered for having a great sense of humor, joke telling and being a social butterfly. Most importantly he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Charles Phillips, James Phillips and Harry Phillips, a son in-law Terry Pine, a son, William Lee Phillips, a granddaughter, Adrianna Pine and his wife Mary Lee Flack Phillips who passed away in 2006. He is survived by one son, James Phillips and his wife Janice of Terre Haute, three daughters; Kathy Pine and her companion Michael Leap of Terre Haute, Deborah Phillips and her husband Timothy Tucker of Ash, NC., and Lori Phillips and her companion Terry McCullough of Terre Haute. He is survived by eleven grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren as well and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a special friend who he considered a son, George Gavin Lambert. Services are Monday August 19th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN. 47804. Visitation will on Sunday August 18th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home. William’s children will serve as Pallbearers.
