Anton “Tony” Joseph Bauer III, 77, passed away on October 7, 2024. Tony accomplished many things over his life. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, a retired Terre Haute police officer and a member of the National Guard just to name a few. But above all, Tony was adored by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
Tony was born July 14, 1947 to Virginia and Anton Bauer Jr. He attended school at St Patrick and Wiley in Terre Haute.
Tony was honored to be a United States Marine and fight for his country. He retired as Sergeant Major after serving 21 years with the Marines and Army National Guard. Tony earned the prestigious Purple Heart while serving in the Vietnam War. He worked for the Terre Haute Police Department for 36 years where he retired as Captain. After retirement, Tony cherished his time on the THPD’s Merit Board.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Bauer Sr.
Tony is survived by his wife Tina Bauer; his siblings Belle Brandt, Ginger Walker (Robert) and Timothy Bauer; his children Brian Sullivan (Kristin), Lauren Meyer (Adam), and Scott Bauer (Heather); his grandchildren Bronx and Hudson Meyer, Landon Bauer, and Chase and Charlotte Sullivan.
Visitation for Tony will be Friday October 11, 2024 from 11am-1pm. Services to follow. All will be held at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N 13th St Terre Haute, IN. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Terre Haute Police Department K-9 unit.
