Augustus H. Tabor Sr.

Augustus H. Tabor Sr. of Terre Haute, IN, passed away April 5, 2025. He was born on September 12, 1926 in Terre Haute to William Tabor and Bertha Riggs Tabor. Augustus, known as “Gus” was retired from the Bureau of Prisons Department of Justice. Gus was intensely proud of his services in the South Pacific during 1943-1945. A proud member of the Submarine Service he was among the few remaining WWII Veterans who had saved the world from tyranny during those dark days. After the war he met and married the love of his life Catherine, who preceded him in death in 2005. Gus was also preceded by his beloved son William who died in 2013. Gus is survived by his son Augustus Jr; Daughter in law Mary Frances; Grandchildren Dr. Katherine O’Brian (and spouse Patrick) of St. Louis Missouri; Augustus III of Costa Mesa, California; Mariah Ferraro (and spouse Blake) of Oceanside, California. Great grandchildren Allyson and James of St. Louis, Missouri and Charlie and Blake of Oceanside, California. Cremation was chosen. Greiner Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
