Autry Snavely

Autry Snavely passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 26, 2021 in the Gibson Hospice Center.

He is survived by his first wife, Shirley Day and mother of children, daughter Margaret Cartwright, son, Bill Snavely, grandchildren, TJ Cartwright, Joshua Cartwright, Amber Ault and husband Logan Ault, Great grandchildren; Orion Cartwright, Daisy Cartwright, Marek Ault, Gemma Ault, Ronin Ault, and Mazie Ault.

Third wife, Barbara Wallace and mother of children, daughter, Kati Jo Bennett and husband Derrick Bennett, daughter, Heather Atterson, grandchildren, Mikayla Bennett, Maddie Maye Bennett, Christopher Bennett, Charolette Bennett, Austin Kurashima, Chandler Atterson, and Cassie Atterson.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Audry Snavely, sister, JoAnn Snavely, sister, Virgie Humphrey, brother Johnny Snavely, second wife Earlene Snavely, and his schnauzer Missy.

Autry was born in Vicksburg Mississippi on March 10, 1940 to Thomas Snavely and Mary Johnson. He was raised by Thomas Snavely and Pauline “Minnis” Snavely.
Autry started working when he was just a kid and stayed dedicated to his work until he retired from General Housewares after over 30 years. He enjoyed farming, fishing, home projects, and traveling in his free time. Autry was known for his strong will and generous heart. He once saved a woman by pulling her from a fire in his elderly age and refused recognition. He lived an adventurous life with many stories, he often talked about the family pet alligator that lived next to the houseboat growing up and fighting bears in the smoky mountains. An avid obituary reader, he always said he read it to make sure he wasn’t in it.
In Autry’s final years he enjoyed sitting outside and visiting with neighbors, taking drives through the park, and being with family.
