Barbara Mae Wood Obituary

Barbara Mae Wood, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024 at Westminster Village surrounded by her family.  She was born January 23, 1940 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Charles W. Lybarger and Kathryn V. Rhoden Lybarger.  She was a homemaker and daycare assistant in Loogootee, Indiana.

She enjoyed family activities, camping, attending her grandchildren’s events, shopping, watching ISU basketball and Colts football.

Barbara was a member of the German Oberlander Club, Tri-Kappa sorority, Eastern Star, Job’s Daughters, Daughters of the Nile, Girl Scout Leader, and Maple Ave United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Wood and parents.  She is survived by her children, Brenda Allen (Rick) Ferdinand, IN; Melinda Middleton (Brad) Terre Haute, IN; Kevin Wood (Michelle) Loogootee, IN.   Grandchildren Nathan Allen (Lindsay), Tyler Allen (Amy), Abby Helton (David), Kiersten Sermersheim (Spenser), Brandon Middleton and Kaitlyn Wood.   Great Grandchildren Raegan, Sophia, Blakely, Millie, Dawson, Kennedy and Bodie.  Siblings: Marlene Hopton Terre Haute, IN.

Visitation will be held at Greiner Funeral Home on Friday, February 23rd from 11:00am – 1:00pm with memorial service to follow at 1:00pm.  Graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery following the services.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the German Oberlander Club.
