Carolyn S. Cole, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Clinton Gardens. Carolyn,
more commonly known as “Suzy”, was born in Springfield, Ohio to George Robert Neff and Esther Terrell
Neff. Suzy was an Indiana State University alum, and carried many roles throughout life. Some of her
roles included co-owning Reiman Building Materials, The Fireplace Shop, and Cole Construction
Company with her husband. Suzy obtained her real estate license and worked for Sterling Realty. She
later found passion in working with children and became a child welfare supervisor, retiring from the
Department of Family and Social Services in 2011. Suzy loved traveling, camping, gardening, cooking,
and spending time with her grandkids. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Before moving
into Clinton Gardens, she was fortunate enough to live next door to her grandkids and was greeted with
daily visits from them. Carolyn (Suzy) Neff Cole married her high school sweetheart, James M. Cole on
October 23, 1963. They were married for 57 years. She is survived by daughter, Christy Trainor (Roger)
and son, Jim Cole. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, and Tara Trainor. Close
family members, Jerry and Judi Cole, (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), niece, Jennifer Engelmann
(Matt), and family and dear friends, John and Karen Neff, will all miss Suzy. Please remember Suzy for
her contagious smile and loving heart. Special thanks to Clinton Gardens for the amazing care given
during her battle with dementia over the last several years. Suzy was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Cole. Services are Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Greiner
Funeral Home, 2005 North 13 th Street, Terre Haute, IN, 47804. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m.
until 6:00 p.m. with services at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
