Carolyn Jane (Kackley) Sweeting

Carolyn Jane Sweeting, 89, of Terre Haute passed away November 2, 2019 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.  She was born April 8, 1930 in Terre Haute to Dwan M. and Dorothy Helen Whaley Kackley.  Carolyn graduated from Garfield High School in 1947, and was an active member in the Garfield Girls Social Club.  In high school she participated in the Garfield Drum and Bugle Corp. She was a member of the Elks, and was a member of their bowling and golf teams. She bowled for the Vigo Bowling League.  Carolyn was a great dancer; the jitterbug and square dancing were some of her favorites and she was a member of the Promenaders, a square dancing club.  She enjoyed camping and vacationing in Florida, Texas, and Las Vegas. She liked to garden, until she found her love of golf. Carolyn was a people person, and was loved by all who knew her. She was adored by her husband, Art, children, grand and great grandchildren, as well as her brothers, sister in law, niece, nephews and friends.  

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Arthur Ray Sweeting (m.7/16/1948), sons; Marty and Mike Sweeting, daughter, Nancee Sorenson, brothers; John Carl and Richard D. Kackley, grandchildren, Sarah, Eric, and Alanna, and great grandchildren, Carter and Addison, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services for Carolyn will be Wednesday November 6, 2019 at 1 pm in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804. Visitation will be Wednesday at 11 am until service time at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Rev. Tom Savage will officiate.
