Catherine Burkeybyle

Catherine Rea Burkeybyle, age 97, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away September 6, 2023. She was born January 23, 1926 to Herbert H. Young and Mildred (Clatfelter) Young.

She retired from Roots Department Store and was a member of the Roots Retiree Association and was a 50+ member of Prairieton Eastern Star #163. Catherine was a former member of Church of Christ.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chester Burkeybyle, a brother, Herbert Young, a sister Marjoire Wertz, son and daughter-in-law James and Lila Rea and two great grandsons, Skylar Dunning and Findley McCracken. She is survived by her children, Robert Rea of Terre Haute, Indiana, Bill (Jill) Rea of Vergennes, Illinois, and Cathy (Larry) Johnson of Terre Haute, Indiana; Stepson, Tony (Karen) Burkeybyle of Terre Haute, Indiana, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Services for Catherine will be on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Saturday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.greinerfuneralhome.com.
