Darlene Kay Combs

Darlene Kay (Garrett) Combs, age 65, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023
surrounded by her family. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 14, 1957 to Alex
Garrett and Peggy (Berry) Garrett.
Darlene was a “great wife and a great woman” and was an “unbelievable mom and grandma.”
She was a very nurturing person and had been a home health aide in her younger days. She
enjoyed making jewelry and decorating cakes. She enjoyed working at the polls during election
times. While in Indianapolis, she was the secretary at Villa Baptist Church. Darlene loved
animals, especially dogs and birds. She was a current member of Calgary Baptist Church in
Brazil, Indiana.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister who passed at birth, Dawn Renee
Garrett. She is survived by her loving husband, Douglas Combs, who would have celebrated
their Fiftieth wedding anniversary on October 26 th . She is also survived by her sons; Robert Jason
Combs II (Lisa) of Bloomington, Indiana and Daven Allen Combs (Selene) of Brownsburg,
Indiana; brothers, Delbert Dennis Berry (Phyllis) of Groveland, Florida, Dale Garrett and Dennis
Garrett (Johnna) of Ohio; seven grandchildren and her beloved dog, Gizzy.
Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Greiner
