Darlene Faye Cooper was born on September 15, 1952, in Terre Haute and passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 72. Her journey on this earth was one of kindness, grace, and selflessness, and she will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
Darlene shared 36 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Lonnie L. Cooper. Their marriage was a testament to love, partnership, and enduring friendship. Darlene also cherished her lifelong friendship with Becky Smith, which spanned 45 years. Together, they not only shared many personal memories but also worked side by side for 29 of those years as a head cook at Becky’s Café.
In her community, Darlene was a source of warmth and generosity. Her sweet, kind-hearted nature touched many lives and her legacy of giving will continue to inspire those around her. She dedicated herself to acts of service, giving back more than she ever received.
As we remember Darlene, we are reminded of her gentle spirit and the impact she made without seeking recognition or reward. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her loved ones: her husband Lonnie L. Cooper; her children Paul L. Sims Jr. and Samantha Faye Sims; her grandchildren Brandy Sims (Leland,Nevaeh), Jessica Gray (Kadrien, Keiontaé, ZaRhíanna), Nicki Fleschner (Bentley, Bailey), and Douglas Brockman (Dwayne, Elaina, Lakota, Ethanual, Leom) and her surviving siblings Bob Luttrell, (Heather, Chris) Doyne Luttrell, (Bub, George) Bill Luttrell, (Denny, Janet) David Luttrell, Debbie Vaughn, Dale Luttrell, and Dana Jackson (Charlie Jackson) She was predeceased by her son Adam L. Sims and sister Diane Luttrell.
