Darlene Rogers Obituary

Darlene Ann Rogers, 73, was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on July 8, 1950, and went into the loving arms of Jesus on November 11, 2023, at the Compassus Hospice Unit in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was surrounded by family. She was born to Alice (Purdy) Brush and Kenneth Brush. She joined their family with a big brother Kenneth Brush Jr. whom she adored. She became a big sister to William Brush who survives. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and brother Kenny. She graduated in 1968 from Gerstmeyer Technical High School.  Darlene had multiple clerical/secretarial positions at Central T.V., Eastern Express, Columbia Records, Rue Renoir Apartment Complex in Indianapolis, Vigo County School Corporation, Dollar General, and Goodwill Industries. Darlene lost her hearing in 1991 and was fierce to find her way through life and received a cochlear implant in 1999. She leaves a great legacy of perseverance.

She leaves behind her loving husband Chris Rogers whom she met in 1991. Darlene has two daughters that survive; Jill Ann Stamper Fitzek (Married to Frankie Fitzek) and Allison Renee Stamper Emery.  She has seven grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Emma Nicole Warnock, Peyton Thomas Warnock, Mariah Alise Hines, Taylor Marie Hines, Ryley Michael Emery, Izsak Joel Emery and Alexis LaMadeline Fitzek.  She has multiple friends that she cherished throughout her life. She made new friends easily.

Darlene had a special place in her gentle heart for animal rights and was notorious for taking in stray cats and had adopted multiple dogs throughout her life. In recent years, she became fascinated with genealogy and performed research on her ancestors to pass down to generations to come. She would spend hours researching at the library and was always excited at finding new discoveries. She loved Racoon Lake and was very fond of the water that “shimmers like diamonds in the sunlight”. Darlene found beauty in simple things and in the world around her. She loved The History Channel and watching movies. Mostly, she enjoyed laughter and sharing stories with her family/loved ones. Her laugh was contagious. Her absence will be greatly missed.
