David Matthew Jones

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, David Mathew Jones, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 71; at IU Methodist surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 21, 1951, to Benjamin Jones and Stella Short Jones in Terre Haute, In. He served in the US Army from 1971-1991. He was Army Retired Sergeant First Class. He was very proud of his military service. He had a truck driving career for (22 years), where he then retired from Jadcore, Inc in 2013.  After retirement David enjoyed spending his days with his brothers and special friend Dale Mullkin at the local McDonalds for their M-W-F coffee and breakfast dates.  Then picking up his two grandsons after school.  During this time, they created many memories, from television shows, to riding mules at Dale’s house, teaching gun safety, hunting, fishing, and tinkering on vehicles.

David is survived by the love of his life Tammy, who he married in 1991. His children Donna Jones, of Terre Haute; Amanda (Jason) Corey, of Terre Haute and his grandchildren Destiny Jones Brock, of Elizabethtown, Ky, Kylan (Morgan) Norman and Brayden Corey, both of Terre Haute, In and his great-granddaughter Annabelle Brock, of Elizabethtown, Ky.  Sisters and brothers Robert Jones of Terre Haute, W. Tom Jones (Barbara) of West Terre Haute, Betty (Jim) Russell of Terre Haute, Sharon (Cliff) Tarrh of Terre Haute, Janet Middleton of Terre Haute. David was especially proud of his granddaughter Destiny for the life she has made for herself and daughter and all her accomplishments.  As for his two grandsons, they were the light of his life.  Kylan “The Baby” he was so proud of his passion of the military and diesel mechanics, while he himself in his younger years took to car mechanics.  Brayden “Boo Boo” was his baby of the family.  They spent many of days watching TV with some of their favorite shows, tinkering around in the yard and fixing his bike..   Grandpa David is missed beyond words.

David is preceded in death by his parents, sister Martha, brother Charles and 2 siblings that died in infancy.  He was also preceded in death by his faithful companion Tipsy. Services will be held at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N 13th St, Terre Haute, IN 47804 on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until service time at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, Pastor Merrill Weir will be officiating.  American Legion will conduct Military services at 7:00 p.m.  Cremation to follow.  Online condolences may be made at www.greinerfuneralhome.com
