December 9, 1950 – September 23, 2025
David Roberts, 74, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025. David was
born on December 9, 1950 to Richard E. and Margaret “Bobbie” (Struckmann) Roberts and
raised in Terre Haute.
He was baptized in the Immanuel Lutheran Church as a child and confirmed as a teen in the
early 1960s.
David spent his entire life in the community he loved and called home. He was a 1968 graduate
of Gerstmeyer High School.
David proudly dedicated his career to the Indiana Air National Guard, serving with honor and
commitment. He served over 25 years with the Indiana Air National Guard, proudly serving
with the 181st Fighter Wing in Terre Haute. He began his military career as a Traditional
Guardsman in the Parachute Shop, later cross-training to become a Life Support Specialist and
eventually a full-time employee with the Guard. As a Life Support Specialist, he ensured pilots
were equipped with life-saving gear and mission-critical support. David’s service included many
deployments in the United States and overseas to Norway, Italy, Kuwait and Turkey.
Outside of his professional life, he was a man of simple joys. In the 1980s and 1990s, he and his
beloved wife were avid bowlers, spending many evenings at the local lanes and building
friendships. Those evenings usually started at the local Chi-Chi’s.
David had an appreciation for travel, especially his favorite trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
He found joy in the everyday moments — grilling in the backyard, tending to his
Tomato plants, and caring for the birds and squirrels he fed faithfully. His love for
animals, especially his cats, reflected his kind and gentle spirit.
A lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings since the early 1970s, David never missed a game and
proudly supported his team through every season. He also had a special fondness for his black
Chevy trucks, which were a signature part of his personality.
David was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Bobbi Joyce Roberts; parents, and sister
Nancy Roberts. He is survived by his brother, Richard W. Roberts; his sons, Brian Roberts (Kelly)
and Derek Roberts; his grandsons, Ryan, Thomas (Baylei), and Dylan; and his great-grandson,
Weston. He is also survived by his niece, Heather Jack (Mike); great-nephew, Nathan Dinkel;
and great-niece, Madison Jack.
David’s presence, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a local animal shelter in David’s
Memory, honoring his love for animals.
Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 10:00a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park.
