Dawn Eileen Dennis-David was born to John “Jack” R. Dennis and Joan Ripple Dennis
on April 11, 1956, in Indianapolis, IN. She passed away peacefully surrounded by love
on May 30, 2025, after a long battle with kidney disease, but those who knew her, know
she suffered from a broken heart after the unexpected passing of her son, John “J.R.”
David in 2020, also due to kidney disease.
Dawn was a graduate of Indiana State University’s nursing program and worked as a
nurse for over 30 years. Dawn briefly took a leave from nursing to care of her father until
his passing in 1999, and she returned to nursing for several more years until fully
retiring to care of her ailing mother.
Dawn was an avid lover of animals, and especially loved horses, which is a hobby she
and her daughter, Maria Eileen David, have always shared and continued to share until
Dawn’s untimely death.
Dawn was proceeded in death by her grandparents, parents, her uncle Richard E.
Dennis, her cousin Roy Dennis, and her beloved son, J.R.
Dawn is survived by her loving daughter Maria, as well as Dawn’s first love Terrance
“Terry” Sanders, her uncle Jay Dennis, and his sons Gary and Billy and their families,
the father of her children, Raoul Joseph David, as well as many friends near and far.
Dawn will also be missed by her dog Ragnar, and cat Pippi, and grand-dog Gonzo,
grand-cat Mara, and grand-horse Hsani.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Dawn’s fondness for animals, the family requests
donations be sent to your animal charity of choice.
Grave side services will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 1:00p.m., at
Roselawn Cemetery where Dawn will be laid to rest next to her beloved son.
