Derek James Lane

Derek James Lane, 44, of Terre Haute, passed away October 12, 2021 in Union Hospital. He was born October 12, 1977 in Terre Haute, to Robert E. Lane and Catherine Colleen Grover Lane. He worked as a Security Captain with Securitas, serving the Terre Haute, Crawfordsville, and Lafayette communities. Derek was a member of the North Terre Haute Christian Church. He participated in shooting events at Top Guns. He was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha fraternity. Derek was a 1996 graduate of Terre Haute North High School. He participated in the marching band while in high school as well as in college. He attended Indiana State University and Ivy Tech. He married his wife, Julie A. Carlson Lane on July 20, 2002 in Terre Haute. He is survived by his wife, Julie Lane, his mother and father, and step mother, Claudia Lane, siblings; Joseph Lane, Sean Lane, Shannon Orman, Jessica Kirby, Jonathan Bilyeu, Steve Richardson, George Richardson and Viola Casey, along with several nieces, and nephews and his fur baby cat, Drake. Services for Derek will be Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804 at 2pm. Visitation will be 12 noon until service time at the funeral home on Tuesday. Cremation will follow services.
