Donald Ray Black

Donald Ray Black January 24, 1947 – March 12, 2025

Don, age 78, was born in Terre Haute, IN to Foster and Irene Black. He is survived by his wife of
56 years, Mary Jo, his daughter, Wendy Suggs and husband Trent, of Boone, NC, and three
grandchildren, Evan, Eli and Mattie Suggs. He leaves behind one brother, Jerry Black and wife
Suzy, their two sons Keith (Amanda) and Kevin (Jennifer) Black and their families, and a sister-
in-law, Shirley Black and her two children, Sherri Lowery and Jeff Black along with their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jim and Floyd Black. Don was a
retiree of GTE, a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion and VFW.
In honor of Don’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services have been scheduled. In
lieu of flowers or donations, Don would be honored if you would take some extra time to enjoy
a lake and catch a fish while you think of him.
