Donald Edward Shipman, 73, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away May 22, 2020, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1946, in Sullivan, Indiana, to William J. Shipman and Rose (Adams Shipman- Crowley). Donald graduated from Wiley High School in 1964. He went on to graduate from Rose Poly (Rose Hulman) in 1968, being on the dean's list during his senior year. Donald worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 32 years at Hercules and retired from AET. He was a member of Humbolt Masonic Lodge No. 42, having been Past Master two times. He also formerly held membership with the Professional Engineer Society, and current membership with Wabash Valley Rodders Car Club. Donald loved cats, muscle cars and playing golf. Once at a work golf outing, Donald hit a bad shot and threw his golf club into a tree. In the Hercules newsletter, it stated “Have you ever seen a 200 lb squirrel climb a tree?” He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Jack Fox. Donald is survived by his wife of 50 1/2 years Angela (Brown) Shipman; son William Aaron Shipman and daughter-in-law Kalina Shipman. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society.
