Gary Alan Mount, born on August 21, 1953, in Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away at the age of 70 in his hometown on August 11, 2024. A lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Gary found comfort in living along Park Avenue, where he spent his childhood and most of his adult life.
A proud graduate of Garfield High School in 1971, Gary's commitment to service was evident through his tenure in the Army Reserves, from which he was honorably discharged in 1980. Professionally, Gary was skilled in maintenance, contributing his expertise to Columbia House, Majestic East (Meadows Manor East), Ampacet, and SBI.
Gary was a master of all trades, known for his ability to build or fix anything. His handmade items are cherished keepsakes within the family. An avid gardener, his vegetables were a source of joy not only to him but to anyone fortunate enough to receive a share of his green beans or tomatoes. His culinary skills, particularly his chili and vegetable soup, were legendary among family and friends. Gary also enjoyed fishing and spending time at Mill Dam, where he often waded in Otter Creek. He loved cleaning his Knick Knacks and would often listen to REO Speedwagon while doing his house work.
He is survived by his sister, Sandra Moeller (Calvin) of Pekin, IL; children, Bryan Mount (Jessica), Jenell Zigler (Brad), and Elliott Mount (Alex); and grandchildren, Zach Mount (Arionna), Kendyl Mount, Brayson, Mason, Oaklee Zigler, Khai, and Hailey Nenneman. Gary was also a great-grandfather to Emersyn Mount. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marlene Parksey (Don), Ron McDaniel, sister Sharon, and brother Rick McDaniel.
Visitation and services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N 13th St., Terre Haute, IN 47804, which is assisting with the arrangements.
