Obituary

Gary Lynn Wallace, 73, of Terre Haute, Indiana, was called home to his Lord and Savior on May 1st, 2020, with his loving and cherished wife Rita Wallace by his side. Gary was born November 1, 1946 in Wayne County, Michigan, to Sylvia Ethel Pritchard-Wallace and Ralph Wallace. On May 13, 1989 he married the love of his life Rita K. Hankins-Wallace. Gary retired from CDI, Inc., after many years of service. Gary joined the Navy February 13, 1964 where he completed his GED, served in Construction Battalion Two, honorably discharged November 16, 1967, then transferred to the Naval Reserves. He was a member of the U.S. Navy CB’s, the Terre Haute Humboldt Lodge, Terre Haute Scottish Rite, NRA, Wild Turkey Federation, Oberlander German Club, Terre Haute Roofers Local Union, Indianapolis Roofers Union, and St. Joseph University Parrish. He is preceded in death by his mother Ethel, his father Ralph, three brothers, Dennis, Bud and Dwayne Wallace, two sisters; Gaile Hunt, Marlene Colvin and son Jayson Reed Wallace. He is survived by his wife Rita, his little cherished “Effie Girl”, son Gary Wayne (Amy), two daughters, Terri Michelle Conder (Bill), Melissa Rafter (Mike), brothers Don Wallace (Dollie), Darrell Wallace, (Teresa), sister Darla Tryon (Rod), brother in-law Randy Hankins (Nancy), grandchildren Dylan, Devin and Gary Ed Wallace, Dustie, Jayson Wallace, Kaycee, Kaylynn, Kaleb Rafter, Savannah, Marshall Conder and Bailey Winkle, great grandchildren Javion, several nieces and nephews and many beloved and cherished friends. Per Gary’s wishes, cremation was chosen. Due to these unprecedented times, there will be a private family service held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date at St. Joseph University Parrish. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Gary’s name to St. Joseph University Parrish, 113 South 5th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807-3577.
