George Albert Richardson, 62, walked into the arms of God on April 4 at St. Vincent’s Heart Center in Carmel, Indiana. He was born to John Thompson Richardson and Marjorie Pruiett Richardson in Terre Haute, Indiana on August 1, 1959. He was a proud 1978 graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as siblings John, Bobby, and Ruby (Steve.) George is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Tracy Collings Richardson, three children, Savanna, Vanessa, and Collin, as well as his brother Gary, and several extended family members. He had countless friends, ATO fraternity brothers from Indiana State, church family, a special group of friends called “The Dockers Gang,” and kids he mentored in the community who adored and respected him.
George lived a courageous life from start to finish. To pay for college, he played the drums in local bands throughout Indiana in the 1970s and 1980s. It was a proud accomplishment for him to earn his Masters Degree from Indiana State. In 1988 at age 29, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis; yet always remained positive, steadfast in his faith in God, and full of hope. George raised money for MS, volunteered with kids who had disabilities, and mentored kids in the Covered Bridge and Kids Hope programs. He was a Sunday School teacher for decades, and prayed non stop for anyone who needed it. George loved sports, especially the NFL, Indiana basketball, and IndyCar. He was hilarious, kind, and took joy in the simple things in life. George always showed up for the ones he loved and did so with a spirit of selflessness and love.
