Grace Laura Unverferth lived her life the same way she went home when her heavenly father called, in her own style on December 11, 2025. She was born and raised in Oakwood Illinois on February 18, 1929 to Ross and Goldie (Amos) Trimmell as their youngest daughter. One can only imagine what her beautiful eyes saw within those ninety-six years.
She was a God-Fearing woman who faithfully read her Bible, she loved the book of Psalm and hearing her sing her favorite song of Trust and Obey was a treasure. Grace was a long-standing member of Eastside Church of Christ. Her generous heart of giving left many agencies sending requests that daily filled the mailbox. She enjoyed being outside working in a garden and was fond of birds stating her favorite was the blue bird and cardinals. She also loved cats and dogs. Grace was a stenographer with Equifax until her retirement. When asked about her life, she would say that Jesus, her family, and friends were the most important to her.
Grace first knew the young boy that would become her husband for they attended the same school. She did not know why, but it was not until after George returned from the war they began to date. The loving couple were married on October 12, 1947 and raised two beautiful daughters together, Sheryl and her younger sister Teri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, her youngest daughter Teri Mehling, her brother Clyde Trimmell, her sister Martha Bear, and her niece Linda Collins.
Grace is survived by her daughter Sheryl Yaraschefski, her nephew Ross Trimmell, a great nephew Matt Trimmell, a great niece Becky Timmell, a niece Jacquline Ruck, and a granddaughter Amy Yaraschefski, a grandson Benjamin Mehling, two great grandsons Shawn Fogorty and Gabrielle Mehling, two great granddaughters Stephine Fogorty and Lydia Mehling, and a great great granddaughter Tannalyn Fogorty.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 at the Eastside Church of Christ 4025 College Ave, Terre Haute, Indiana on December 18, 2025 with services performed by Tom Woodason at 1 p.m. A dinner will follow the service. Due to the weather, there will be not graveside services.
