James Milton Champion, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away August 30, 2021 in his home. He was born December 24, 1932 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Claude and Elaine Champion. James was a 1954 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 101st Airborne, and also serving in the Indiana Air National Guard. James was a member of the United Methodist Temple. James worked as an electrician for the IBEW Local 725 for many years. James also worked as a foreman for Sycamore Engineering, and Potter Electric Company. James was a member of the Sycamore Club, and the Pachyderm Club. He was known for being a working man, because he worked every day of his life. He was always busy with his hands.
James is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Delores Champion, brothers; William Champion, Joe Fry, Dick Champion, Tom Champion, and Harry Champion, sisters; Esther Lentz, Ruth Morris, and Martha Burton.
He is survived by sons; Jim Champion (Therica Squires), and Douglas Champion (Dianne Hepworth), and a grandson, James Lavon Champion (Mindy Browning).
Services for James will be Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 1 pm in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N. 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804. Visitation is scheduled from 11 am until service time at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences can be made at www.greinerfuneralhome.com
