Jimmie Hendricks, 94, of Terre Haute, passed away on Tuesday, June 10,
2025, in Terre Haute. He was born in Lewis, Indiana, on March 16, 1931, to
Everett M. Hendricks and Thelma (Wilson) Hendricks. Jimmie was a 1949
graduate of Blackhawk High School, where he played center on the basketball
team.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served as a military policeman. He
worked at Shanks Auto in the service, parts, and body shop departments for over
40 years. Jimmie enjoyed wintering in Florida, gardening, watching the Indiana
Pacers, and following motorsports. Above all, he loved spending time with his
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife JoAnn, whom he
married on September 25, 1953—they shared 66 wonderful years together; and
his son, Kendall Hendricks.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Marty Hendricks (Abby) of Terre Haute; daughter-
in-law, Mary Hendricks of Danville, Indiana; four grandchildren: Nick Hendricks,
Samantha Hendricks, Ben Hendricks, and Riley (Hendricks) Powers; and one
great-grandson, Micah.
