Joan “Marmee” Ryan Harrold, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 in Union Hospital. Joan was born on January 23, 1935 in Riley, IN to Robert Bruner and Hilda Ward Bruner. She had formerly worked in marketing for G.T.E and was the former co-owner of Ryan Funeral Home. She was a member of St. Anthony Junior Guild, Vigo County Historical Society and was a longtime volunteer for the Vero Beach Art Center in Vero Beach Florida and an avid supporter of the Banks of the Wabash Chorus. She was a volunteer at Cannon Inn before becoming a resident. Joan loved listening to music and she would even sing along and dance. She was a wiz a Scrabble and hunting mushrooms. She was truly in a class all of her own. She loved to cook and entertain but nothing compared to the love she had for her family. Joan was blessed to have lived her last years at Cannon Inn. The staff and residents were her second family, she loved them dearly. The family wants to extend our gratitude for their compassion, kindness, and professionalism. We will be forever grateful to all of the staff for their love and devotion to our "Marmee" She was preceded in death by her parents and husband James Conway Harrold who passed away November 18, 2016. She is survived by two daughters; Cindy Durham (Steve) of Rosedale, IN and Tina Ryan (John Chadwick) of Rockford, IL. She is survived by one son, Patrick Ryan Jr. (Amy) of St. Petersburg, FL. She is survived by six grandchildren who lovingly called her “Marmee”; Christina Hancock (Jerry), Ryan Durham (Lauren), Megan Newton (Colin), Katy Chadwick (Brent), James Chadwick (Megan) and Jake Ryan. She is survived by great grandchildren; Gracie, Ella, Myla, Madelyn, Abigail, Hadley and Jocie. Services are scheduled for Sunday October 18, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804.
