John Anthony Avenatti

John Anthony Avenatti, 80, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on February 7, 2025.  He was born on December 17, 1944, in Clinton, Indiana, to Tony and Avera Avenatti. John was a member of First Baptist Church of West Terre Haute.  He worked for 7 years with the Vigo County Sheriff Department and retired after 21 years of service with the Terre Haute Police Department.  John was a proud Army veteran, who served in Telecommunications.  He was a great husband and father.  His family is very proud of how John served his country and his community throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Susan Jane (Strohm) Avenatti; sons Tony John Avenatti and Stacy J. Avenatti; granddaughter Corie Lynch; and great granddaughter Sicilee Stevens.  John was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 12:00p.m. in First Baptist Church of West Terre Haute,  205 S 5th St, West Terre Haute, IN 47885.  Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  The Terre Haute Police Department Honor Guard has been entrusted with the honors ceremony. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, from 10:30a.m. until service time.
