John Walter George

John Walter George passed away on September 12th 2024. He was born 26 July 1960 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Leon and Jane (Purtlebaugh) George. He joined the Navy at 17 before returning to live and work in Phoenix before moving to Indiana with his mother and sisters in 1989.

Despite wanting to be a full-time fisherman, he worked as a machinist, construction worker, house inspector, inventor, and as an entrepreneur. When he wasn’t fishing or building motorized bicycles, you could find him writing poems, sketching, painting, playing Monopoly or checkers. He passed away on 12 September 2024 in Brazil, Indiana.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Aunt (Dorine) and Uncle (Walter) Barker, Sister-in Law Lois (Leon) George, Nephew Richard A. George, Great Niece Haley George and cousin Richard Einsla.

He is survived by brothers Leon and Richard George, sisters Laura (Tom) Fariello and Donna (Frank) Wiram, nephews Robert (Marissa) George, Christopher George, David (Joy) George, Andrew George, Nikolas Fariello, nieces Elizabeth (Chris) Pringle, Jenna and Lisa Wiram, great nieces and nephews, and Aunt Maryrose (Lowell) Scott.
