John Johnson Obituary

John (Jack) Frederick Johnson was born September 20, 1937. He passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023.
Jack was born and raised in Terre Haute. He attended ISU. He proudly joined the U.S. Marine Corps in March 1956 and was stationed in California. Upon his return home, he married Thea Becking (1963) and the couple had 4 children.
He retired from Public Service Indiana in April 1990 and was able to enjoy many years with Thea before her passing in 2008. Few are lucky enough to find one love.
Jack was doubly lucky; he married Judy Keyes in 2012, the girl he had taken to prom at Otter Creek High School. Jack and Judy continued to live in Terre Haute, surrounded by family.
He was 4th order active member in Knights of Columbus, German Oberlander Club, and Order of Carmelites-Carmelite Monastery along with many others. He attended Sacred Heart as well at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He will always be remembered for his kind words, infectious smile, green thumb and love of all animals (especially dogs). He made sure his children knew he loved them and was so proud of them.
Jack is survived by his wife Judy; sisters Wanda Baltes, Marilyn (Hugh) Potter; daughters Angela (Trey) Clark, Jackie (Mike) Eberle, Ann (Dan) Dodds; son John (Jennifer) Johnson; Judy's daughters Amy (Lee) Keyes-Lohman, Jeanie (Michael) Keyes-Morris; loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and so many friends.
He was preceded by his parents John H. Johnson and Margaret Elizabeth Lentz Johnson, stepmother Martha Johnson, and sister Doris Brown.
He will be laid to rest next to Thea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 113 S. 5th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807. Well wishes for the family and receiving line will be from 12:00 p.m. noon until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Reception gathering will be held at Mount Pleasant Church, 3050 East Davis Dr., Terre Haute, IN 47802. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations in Jack's name be made to the Carmelite Monastery of Terre Haute, Terre Haute Humane Shelter, Wounded Warriors or Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
