John "Greg" Gregory Held

John Gregory Held passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 14,
2025 at Signature Healthcare in Terre Haute after a battle with Alzheimer’s
disease.
Greg was a loving family man who would drop everything to go help a family
member or friend in need. Anyone who knew Greg knew he had a great love for
boating, either on Mill Creek Lake, Kentucky Lake for many years or the Ohio
River and Mississippi River.
Greg retired from Taghleef Industries (also known as Hercules or AET) after 37
years of being an electrician and a controls specialist in May 2018.
Greg was born May 4, 1956 in Terre Haute to George F Held and LaVerne T Vieke
Held who passed away in 2003 and 1996. Greg is survived by his loving wife
Becky Held of 30 years. He is survived by his children Robert G Held (Jo Ann),
Michael G Held, Dustin G Held (Amanda), Nicholas G Held (Stacey), Colby G
Held (Ayrica) and Stephen B Held (Sierra), step son Kevin E Love (Brianna). His
step son Stephen H Hiatt IV passed away in 2017. Also surviving are
grandchildren Ellie, Matthew, Willow, Mia, Piper, Josh, Alyssa, Marley, Stephen,
Sayler, Liam and Nathan. Greg has 3 surviving sisters Mary (Terry), Julie (Joe) and
Joyce (Raymond). And several nephews and nieces.
Greg had been participating for almost 5 years in a research program for
Alzheimer’s at Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center IU in hopes that his
participation will help to find a cure for this wretched disease.
We would like to make special thank you to the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice and
Signature Healthcare for the compassionate care they showed to Greg and Becky
during the short stay there, who became family to them. Funeral services will be
held at Greiner Funeral 2005 N 13 th St Terre Haute, IN 47804 on Tuesday, January
21, 2025 with viewing at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by the service officiated
by Pastor Randy McPike.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer’s Association or
Heart to Heart Hospice.
