Joni Marie Boehmer

Joni Marie Boehmer, 69, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on September 26, 2024 
at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born on November 25, 1954 in Terre Haute 
to Charles Ernest Thompson and Helen Lucille (Kellie) Thompson. 
Joni was a graduate of Wheat Ridge (Colorado) High School class of 1972. She was 
awarded an Associate Degree in Photography from Ivy Tech in Terre Haute in May 
1984. Besides being a talented photographer, Joni was an avid gardener and a skilled 
genealogist, having traced her own family origins back several centuries. Prior to her 
illness, she had been tutoring ESL students for Vigo County Schools.
Joni is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Darrell David 
Boehmer and a daughter, Hilary Ann Boehmer. She is survived by daughter Laura M. 
Boehmer, sister Jeannie DiClementi (Mary Ross), sister-in-law Rebecca “Becky” Hull 
(Butch), nieces and nephews Kellie Ogle (Alan), David DiClementi (Maria), Morgan 
DiClementi-Ross, Evinn DiClementi-Ross, Matthew Hull (Jess Whitson), Christopher 
Hull, Sarah Tibbs (Tad), Michelle Hull, many great- and great-great nieces and 
nephews, cousins Tim Robson, Amy James, Bob McCarty, Eileen Huey, Gerri Arbaugh, 
and Jim Fitzgerald, plus her long-time best friend Marla Witmer Conti of Costa Rica. Of 
note, cousin Amy James and Joni were born within 20 minutes of each other in the 
same hospital with the same attending physician, an event that received publicity in a 
number of Indiana newspapers.
Services will be held on Thursday October 3 at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 N 13th St, 
Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be Noon—2:00 pm with services beginning 
immediately after. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Terre 
Haute Humane Society, 1811 S Fruitridge Ave, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
