Joseph Long Obituary

Mr. Joseph W. Long Jr., affectionately known as “Joe Joe” was born to the late Joseph William Long Sr. and Adaleen Long on July 6, 1951 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He passed away on October 3, 2021 at 1:17 am. Joe Joe was preceded in death by both parents as well as four brothers and three sisters Rudolph Long, Clyde Long, Oscar Long, Keith Long, Juanita Sutton, Mayola Brown, and Violetta McGrone.  

Joe Joe attended Booker T. Washington Elementary, Sarah Scott Junior High and Wiley High School.  He accepted Christ at a very young age at Calvary Baptist Church, later to transfer to Bethlehem Temple. Later on in life he worked for Strand Steel for many years.

Joe Joe was well known for his sweet, kind-hearted personality throughout the Terre Haute area. He was often seen riding his bicycle or walking around town. His infectious smile was truly adored. He was loved by so many in the community.   

He was survived by his only child, Brian Roosevelt Long, also known as, Obata Kufanya Tena, his sisters Rosetta Moothery (Charles Sr.), Linda Waldon (James Sr.), Roxie Rudy (Byron), and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  

“You can remember him and only that he is gone, or you can cherish his memory and let him live on."

 Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at 2nd Missionary Baptist.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until service time.
