Joseph "Goofy" C Lewis Jr.

Joseph C. “Goofy” Lewis Jr. 63, passed away on September 16, 2025 in Terre Haute, Indiana.  He was born on December 8, 1961, in Terre Haute, Indiana.  He remained a lifelong resident of the city he called home.  Joseph dedicated much of his professional life to serving others.  He retired from the Terre Haute Center for Medical Education at Indiana University School of Medicine on the Indiana State University Campus.  Prior to that, he was the proud owner of Lewis Floor Cleaning, where he built a reputation for hard work and commitment.  He was known by many as “Goofy” a nickname that reflected his loving nature and mischievous spirit.  His warmth and humor left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know him.  Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Letha Lewis; his brothers Robert, Larry, and Donny; his beloved wife of 30 years, Cherie; and his son Charles.  He is lovingly remembered by daughter Genie Hemmrich; daughter Angie Whitesell, and her husband David; daughter-in-law Angie Brock; son Jason Rankin and his wife Erin; grandchildren Candace, Kristi, Seth, Samuel, Chelsea, Brent, Dominic, Kristoffer, and Avery; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory.  A funeral service will be held at Greiner Funeral Home in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00a.m.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, from 9:00a.m. until service time.
