Judith “Judy” Ann Hamilton Purdy, 78, of Terre Haute passed away October 12, 2020 in Meadows Manor North. She was born April 14, 1942 in Terre Haute to Charles Raymond Hamilton and Marjorie Jean McDonald Hamilton. Judy was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Church. Judy worked for more than 20 years in McDonald Tax Service. She graduated from Garfield high school in 1960, then went on to study teaching at Indiana State University and graduating in 1964, she returned to Indiana State University to study accounting and graduating again in 1984. She taught for Woodrow Wilson, Indianapolis Short Ridge, and Sacred Heart. She loved word games, quilting, crocheting, painting, and reading. She also loved to make baby items for Catholic Charities, especially blankets. Christmas time was a very special time for Judy, she loved to make cookies and candies and bake homemade treats for friends and neighbors. She loved when all the family and friends were able to be in her home; the more around the table, the better.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bob Pinson, and an aunt, Suzanne Carbon.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Purdy (m. 3/6/1965), her daughter, Kristine Purdy-Southwood of Shelburn, Indiana, sister, Jeanne Knott of Terre Haute, cousins; Miller Carbon Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, Cathy Carbon-George of Louisville, Kentucky, Susan Carbon-Everett of Louisville, Kentucky, and Bob Carbon of Cincinnati, Ohio, nephews; Rob Knott of Marshal, Ill, Jay Knott of Terre Haute, and Tim Knott of Cypress, Texas, along with her dog Bella, and grand dog, Dottie, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial for Judy will be Friday, October 16, 2020 at 12 pm in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 10 am until service time. The family would like to give appreciation to Debbie Purdy, Babette Bellgraph, Dr. Mardini, and all the staff at Meadows Manor North for their kindness and compassion.
