Katherine Dispennett

Katherine Louise Dispennett, 77, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021.  Katherine was born August 27, 1943, in Terre Haute, to Robert Wayne and Elizabeth Head Shassere.  Katherine worked in retail management and restaurants during most of her working years.  She owned and operated three restaurants throughout her career until she met the love of her life Rex.  She settled at home tending to Rex, her art, and writing.  Katherine was a talented artist whose paintings hang in homes across the country.  She had lived in Italy, Texas, Colorado, Chicago, Arizona, San Diego, and Florida before her final return to Terre Haute to be closer to family.  Katherine leaves behind to mourn her loss, her loving husband Rex Dispennett of Terre Haute, Indiana, whom she married July 9, 1999.  She also leaves behind two sons; a daughter, and a step daughter of whom she was very proud because she often said so.  Daniel Sears and wife Jamie of Wayland, MI, Kevin Sears and wife Kelly of La Veta, CO, JoDee Jessie and her beloved Chris of Charleston, IL, and Tammie Walden of Collinsville, IL.  She is survived by three brothers, Floyd Shassere and wife Melissa of Terre Haute, Steven Grubor and wife Debbie of Mooresville, IN, and David Grubor of Terre Haute, IN.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was preceeded by two infant children, Diana and Charles; her parents, and many others for whom she cared dearly.  Katherine was a unique person, who lived life on her own terms.  She was taken too soon for reasons that are not ours to know.  Her absence leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.  Rest in peace Mom/Kafrin Ann.  Visitation will be at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana, 47804, on Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m.
