Kathy Adamson Obituary

Kathy Ann Dickson Adamson left this world and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the age of 64.  She was born on December 20, 1956 to Aleck E. Dickson and L. Eloise Dickson.

Aleck was a minister, so Kathy grew up in Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.  She graduated from high school in Fairfield IL in 1975 and moved to Terre Haute where she met her husband David.  They were married on April 19, 1975 and were blessed with two children, Daren Layne born on Sept 20, 1980 and Dana Lynn born on August 28, 1982.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, David Adamson; her daughter Dana Aaron of Terre Haute; her daughter-in-law Devon Adamson of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Victoria Aaron, Jacob Adamson, Noah Aaron, Sylvia Adamson and Engelend Aaron all of Terre Haute; her father, Aleck Dickson of Terre Haute; her siblings Larry Dickson of Marshall, IL and Martha Elmore of Terre Haute; three sisters-in-law, Susan Kirby of Crossville Tn., Nola Austin of Terre Haute and Debra Dickson of Marshall, IL.; two aunts, Marietta Cannaday of Terre Haute and Lois Meyer of Mill Brook, Alabama. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Eloise Dickson in 2000 and her son, Daren in 2018.

Kathy never met a stranger.  Her outgoing personality and warm, friendly smile invited all who met her to be welcomed into her circle of friends.  This personality naturally led her into sales as she progressed from cosmetics, to furniture, to insurance, to becoming a licensed security broker and managing a securities office in Terre Haute.

Kathy grew up in the churches of Christ and at her passing she was a member of the Eastside church of Christ where she had worshipped and worked for the past 20 years. She hosted a small group of Christians in her home on Sunday evenings on a weekly basis.  Kathy had also been actively involved with the Wabash Christian Youth Camp (Camp Wabashi) for over 40 years.  She believed in Christian camping and her children and grandchildren have followed in her footsteps.

Kathy loved life.  She loved her family and was surrounded almost daily by her children and grandchildren and church family.  She loved being with her husband, she loved the fact that her father had come to live with them in 2014. She loved Christmas and always went above and beyond what anyone expected.  She loved Disney as she was Minnie to David’s Mickey.  Some of her fondest memories involved trips to Disneyland, Disney World and being able to share that experience with her family.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking and collecting costume jewelry.  She loved fresh flowers.  Most of all she enjoyed playing games, especially card games.  She had a group of ladies that gathered every Friday morning for their weekly games of “Hand and Foot”.

There is a celebration of life being planned for the near future to be held at the Eastside church of Christ at 4025 College Ave in Terre Haute.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church or to Camp Wabashi, 3525 E. Harlan Dr.  Terre Haute 47802
